ZAANSE SCHANS
While in The Netherlands seeing windmills is a must. One of the best places to do so is Zaanse Schans. Located just outside of Amsterdam this open air museum recreates 18th century Dutch Village. Several windmills were relocated here from across the country, giving an opportunity to the visitors to see the difference between them – from the mills that were pomping out water to sewing and grinding ones.
But why the air around Zaanse Schans smells like chocolate? And why are all the houses green? You will find out during our tour. You will also get the chance to taste local cheese and try on dutch clogs (“klompen”)
ROTTERDAM WALKING TOUR
Rotterdam might be considered the most “not dutch” city in the Netherlands. After a heavy World War II destruction it has been rebuilt entirely as a modern city. Countless number of skyscrapers and futuristic architecture led it to the top 10 of the world cities with the best city skyline.
During the walking tour you will see the famous cubic houses, Markthal, Town hall, harbour by the Maas river, Erasmus Bridge (nicknamed “swan bridge"), but also a few war “survivors” – White House and St Lawrence cathedral.
THE HAGUE WALKING TOUR
Officially the seat of the Dutch government and the head of the country - King Willem Alexander. Definitely not the site to be missed.
Visit City’s Plein (main Square), Binnenhof (one of the oldest in the world Parliament buildings still in use), Noordeinde – working office of the King and of course Peace Palace – international seat of the Court of Justice. Extend the tour adding a visit to Mauritshuis (not to miss famous “Girl with the Pearl Earring”) or exploring wide Beaches of nearby Scheveningen
